Registration

This process sets up your new, free account on My Tax Digital. Once registered, you'll be able to sign in and proceed with authorising the app to communicate with HMRC for your MTD submissions.

 

  1. Browse to the My Tax Digital web application in a modern browser (such as Chrome, Firefox, or Safari).

  2. Click on the "Register" button, usually located in the top-right corner of the screen.

  3. The Create an Account form will appear. Enter the required details:

    • Name: Your full name.
    • Email Address: A current and secure email address you use regularly.
    • Phone: A current phone number. This will only be used should we need to contact you for support purposes and will not be used for marketing.
    • Where did you hear about us?: Select the option that best describes how you found My Tax Digital.
    • Secure Password: Your password must be a minimum of 10 characters long, up to 32 characters.
    • Note: Your registration details will not be shared with anyone else.

My Tax Digital Registration

  1. Click the final "Register" button.

  2. Account Activated: Your account is now registered and ready to use. You'll automatically have email-based Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) enabled to protect your financial data. You can now follow the steps under the Sign-in section.


Troubleshooting

"Try again later" or "Please try again on another device"

This message can appear due to a temporary browser issue or a brief interruption. Try the following:

  1. Use a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, or Safari).
  2. Clear your browser's cache and cookies, then try again.
  3. Try from a private/incognito window.

If the problem persists, email mytaxdigital@openanswers.co.uk with the email address you are trying to register with.

Email address already registered

If you see a message indicating your email address is already in use, you already have an account. Use the Sign-in page and click Forgot password if you need to reset your credentials.
